CARSON FOCUSSED ON ENGLAND

Former England international Scott Carson, who was seen as a long-term successor to Paul Robinson a few years ago, has said that he is now focused on getting Wigan back into the Premier league.

After spending the last two seasons at Turkish club Bursaspor, Carson has returned to English football with Wigan, who have just been relegated to the championship after several years in the Premier league. They are good football bets to make an immediate return though.

Since they have been in the Premier league for long enough and they have also a great financial situation, Wigan are one of the favourites to get promoted straight back up.

They have appointed former Bolton manager Owen Coyle as a replacement for Roberto Martinez, who left for Everton in the summer. Carson will have to fight extremely hard in order to get back to the national team. Competition for places is intense because of the presence of Joe Hart Manchester city, John ruddy of Norwich city, and Ben Foster of West Brom. Carson proved that he still had the best in him by saving a penalty from Danny Welbeck in the Community Shield defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

"I want to get back into the squads, but I think it's going to be difficult. There are a lot of keepers who have come in and out now. Fraser Forster's playing at Celtic, Alex McCarthy at Reading is in the same situation as me. This season I'm just concentrating on getting Wigan back in the Premier League and hopefully trying to have a good season," said Carson.

Carson has ambitions of playing for the England national team once again, but right now he is focused only on getting Wigan into the Premier league. Wigan have had a decent start to the Championship campaign after taking eight points from their opening five matches.
