Galatasaray’s new coach Mustafa Denizli claims that he was prepared to risk his reputation with the club and its supporters only because he wanted to help them out of trouble.
The 66-year-old is one of the recognised names at Galatasaray after having been with the club as a player and as a coach. He recently agreed to return to the club on an 18 month contract. His arrival comes at a time when the club are struggling to get results of any sort. They are quite far away from the, which is dominated by the likes of Besiktas and Fenerbahce.
In his extended career as a manager,Denizli has overseen the likes of the turkey national team and Besiktas.
However, it remains to be seen if he can revive the form of the Turkish giants, as he has been out of work for more than a year. His last job was with Khazar Lankaran and he left the club in June 2014. His last job in Turkish football was even further with Rizespor. The club may struggle to revive their form in the domestic league, but Galatasaray can at least focus on Champions League. They have an important group match against Atletico Madrid.
Denizli was a left winger for Galatasaray in his final season back in the 1983-84 campaign."I ended my playing career at Galatasaray, and Galatasaray is where my biggest successes as a coach began. When I received this offer from the club that I owe my reputation and fame to, it was – of course – not the same as any other offer. If I am going to risk my reputation, it could only be for Galatasaray.I can only feel honoured when Galatasaray call. I hope to achieve all the goals that our club are aiming for,” saidDenizli.
